Wilbur, Jaffe, Yahtzee Headline Game Connect: Asia Pacific

The Game Connect: Asia Pacific conference kicks off in Melbourne this weekend. Top among the industry figures to speak at the event are Epic Games VP Jay Wilbur, David Jaffe of God of War fame, and Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw.

Organised by the Game Developers Association of Australia, GCAP is centred this year on the theme: Create Innovate Thrive. It’s very much a development focused conference, bringing the local development community together and in touch with numerous overseas guests.

Epic’s Jay Wilbur will be discussing his experience with the Unreal Development Kit on a panel titled “No point Re-inventing the Wheel. How to Make the Most of Middleware” alongside fellow middleware suppliers Brian Waddle from Image-Metrics and Tim Mower from Havoc.

Jaffe (pictured) will appear via videolink for a Q&A session hosted by the hosts of ABC TV’s Good Game television program. (Bonus points for the first person to get the opinionated designer to swear profusely.)

Yahtzee will join a critics’ discussion panel featuring Screen Play’s Jason Hill and Good Game’s Bajo and Hex to debate what they hate about video games.

Other speakers include Tim Stellmach from Vicarious Visions and formerly Looking Glass Studios, ex-Irrational and now indie designer Farbs, and Justin Halliday from what used to be known as Transmission Games.

The conference runs from Sunday, December 6 to Tuesday, December 8. Register now at the GCAP website.
