Kotaku AU: Games Of The Year – In Full

Kotaku AU: Games Of The Year – In Full

For the past week I’ve been counting down my personal top ten for 2008, with the #1 game revealed just a few moments ago. In case you missed them, I thought I’d help you out like the guy in the above pic and give you the full list in one convenient post. Let me know what you think of my choices!

Click on each to read why I thought these games were the ten best of the year.

10. Grand Theft Auto IV
9. LittleBigPlanet
8. Etrian Odyssey 2
7. Fallout 3
6. Saints Row 2
5. Audiosurf
4. Valkyria Chronicles
3. Left 4 Dead
2. Braid
1. Far Cry 2

  • Far Cry 2 is definitely on my ‘to do’ list.

Still playing through SR2. Damn those Satchel Charges are the goods.

  • Can’t say I am a fan of all of those games listed but the definet ones are at least listed such as Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead and GTA IV.

  • Finally someone who has seen the light. You must be the first games reviewer/journalist to award Farcry 2 anything. And it is an absolutely amazing experience that game.

  • Left 4 Dead has been my most played and enjoyed this year, I’m glad others have enjoyed it as much as myself. Far Cry 2 however didn’t last long for me, but I’m going to go give it another try after reading your post on it – you got me all excited. Thanks. Also, gotta check out Braid somehow… sounds great. Don’t own a 360 though. This’ll be tricky.

  • It’s awesome seeing Audiosurf on your list. It’s probably the only game released this year that I’ll still be playing in 5 years times as well.

  • Wow, there are a few games I have just missed this year, got to check em out.

Also BTW when is kotaku AUS getting the facelift that kotaku USA has (threaded comments, yes please)

  • The console versions of Far Cry 2 are pretty rubbish, though, with the stupid lack of quicksaves.

It may be the God of FPS’s on the PC, but it doesn’t do the job well elsewhere, it doesn’t deserve to be #1 on this list.

  • Far Cry 2 is definitely my number one!

Most of the people who did not like it did not play it long enough it seems. It’s a kind of game that grows on you, the more you play, the more you like it.
