What Are You Playing This Weekend?

Guys, I need your help. I'm looking through my unplayed games of 2008 pile and there's Persona 3 FES, Rise of the Argonauts, Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise, Star Wars: Force Unleashed, Sonic Unleashed, LEGO Batman, Tomb Raider: Underworld and Civilization: Revolution. They're all sitting there, just staring at me.

I've avoided all these games for one reason or another. Some of them I've heard are kinda rubbish (Sonic, Force Unleashed), some of them I know will occupy far too much of my time (Persona, Civ: Rev), and some just got lost in the end of year rush (Viva, Lego, Lara). But I want to play something. So I'm going to leave it up to you to decide for me.
Given this choice, what would you be playing this weekend?

    Tomb Raider: Underworld.

Why? Because it's a tomb raider game, they're never awesome, but they're never crap!

Do yourself a favour, play Persona 3 FES!

    My Idea is:
10 mins per game and off of the games 10 mins reviews, pick a game for the weekend.
    My pick: Force Unleashed

Viva just didn't click with me - the menu system was very clunky and all the little loading times were very annoying, plus it felt like you were never really on top of things. It seemed like it would require a hell of a lot of time invested to get any sort of reward.

Haven't played Argonauts, but all the reviews point to too much walking and talking.

Of the Unleashed options, don't play Sonic: you'll just get angry. Star Wars isn't actually that bad, it's just disappointing when you think of how much better it could have been. The story is pretty solid and the combat can be very fun.

Personally I wouldn't spend time on Civ:Rev as I've played other Civ games and it doesn't look much different.

I'd go with either Tomb Raider (not having owned any previous TR games in the past) or Persona. Yes Persona will eat your life, but it's awesome!

I'd go for Tomb Raider. It's the only game there that's engaging without being frustrating (eg. Star Wars, Sonic), though I've heard Argonauts can be fun!

My friend swears by Persona 3 FES, but be prepared for a long ride....

My pick is viva pinata: trouble in paradise.

Once its installed on your hard drive all the annoying load times fly by.You need to look past the flaws in the game and sit down and enjoy it. Its the most rewarding 360 game i own.

Star Wars: Force Unleashed and Tomb Raider: Underworld then if you feel brave Rise of the Argonauts.

Of the three I think Force Unleashed would be the more entertaining and the other two are probably worlth a couple of hours each.

im still stuck on a backlog of ps1 games (is that second gen?) .....arc the lad anyone?

Viva! I just like bright colours.

Force Unleashed is WAY better than I thought it would be. I think most people bash it unfairly... they judge it on what they think it should be, not what it is.

I'd suggest either Force unleashed or Lego Batman. Despite popular opinion, I thought Force Unleashed was actually a lot of fun, while Lego Batman seemed like possibly the best Lego game yet, at least from my time with the demo.

    Got a new PC on Wednesday (Q6600, 4GB DDR2-800, HD4850 1GB) so I'm playing Crysis Warhead and L4D.
Also had a spin on the new Mirror's Edge TT map on PS3.

    Dead Space

Some Sonic Unleashed and Twilight Princess

I've been playing Ar Tonelico II.

It is a deeply flawed JRPG with (at least so far) a phoned-in plot, an interesting but ultimately not that great battle system, cliche characters, generally very average art, poor area design and a host of technical issues and translation typos.

Yet despite that I am over 7 hours in and I'm enjoying it a lot.

I also thought Force Unleashed was way better than people gave it credit for.

As for me, with my XBox currently down and out, I'll be plugging into the Ouendan games. Again. So, so good.

Well, personally I'd go for Force Unleashed. Despite everyone saying it sucks (which I guess it did if you focus on the wrong parts), if you just spend the game trying to make as big explosions as possible, and killing enemies in the most awesome way imaginable, it really is fun.

And just ignore the story. It has no effect whatsoever on the game, so just focus on what I told you to.

Civilization Revolution is the winner out of that lot, tons of scenarios and its a good way to blow away a weekend.
