   I think the reason for this is due to the fact parents will always associate nintendo with children.

   other consoles seem overwhelming and not “kid friendly” pitty.

   I wonder how many of those Wii’s sit gathering dust next to well-used Xbox360’s and PS3’s, and how many are being used as exercise replacements by older people using Wii-fit.

   Personally, my Wii hasn’t been touched for months. It will probably get a workout for a week or two when Mad World is released, but that will probably be about it for the forseeable future.

   Firstly, Mr Wildgoose, that was the greatest analogy ever.

   Secondness, these stats make it clear as to just how insignificant the Aussie market share is when compared to the U.S., in terms of population numbers at least.

   And thirdsome, I wonder what the attach rate is for those sales? As in games sold per console. I think those stats would tell quite a different tale.

   I belive it’s 4.something for wii, and 7.something for PS3 and 360.

   Great, but I wonder when we start drawing a line between Wii and 360/PS3 comparisons? They seem to be very different markets with very different demographics.

   If you look at jus 2008, total Wii software sales are still more than the total sales of PS3 & Xbox 360 combined.
   Life to Date Xbox 360 has the highest overall attach rate of the 3, but then, it has been around longer. PS2 is still far in front of all of them, but again that’s a product of age.
   Trust me, if you’re looking for any angles to try and show that Wii sucks, attach rate is looking at the wrong place. Or save yourself the trouble and stop looking at all.

   I wasn’t trying to find Wii suckage at all, rather I was wondering about something I didn’t know. Now that you’ve baited me though…

   – Craploads of shovelware
   – Lack of a streamlined online system
   – Only a handful of AAA titles
   – Wii Music…

    Sold Wii 6 months ago & bought more PS3 games with the money. Last time Wii was regularly switched on was prior to PixelJunk Eden. The Wii will continue to outsell both other systems because of the demographic division highlighted by Simeon (Red & Blue Oceans).

    I believe PS3’s & 360’s will get more playtime. Especially in “multisystem” households.

    That doesn’t sound right – Wiis are frequently out of stock in shops. Even if that’s because they’re selling rediculously well, I think it’s more to do with the fact that Nintendo have to split their Wii supply with all PAL territories. 360’s and PS3’s run out of stock in major retailers at times too, but Sony/Microsoft restock fast.

    For what it’s worth my Wii gathers dust and isn’t plugged in. I use my 360 and PS3 frequently. The Wii has far too many mediocre games riding on the good name of their predecessors for my liking. Oh, and shovelware.

    Handheld sales would be interesting though. Admittedly DS would outsell PSP by a long shot, but how many people do buy PSPs/games? It’s still the only console to crack the monopoly.

    the thing that people don’t realize is that the ps3 isn’t more expensive than the xbox 360. ps3 comes with built in wi-fi, with the xbox u have to get a stupid adapter to play onlone which is like $100. there’s other things like teh ps3 has built in batteries for controllers so there’s no fussing about.

    to play online for xbox, u ahve to pay a fee. ps3 is free man…freeee.

    forget teh wii, it’s just stupid, it’s for kids.

    PS3 Rules!!!!!!!!!!!
