Rock Band Classic Rock Track Pack Rushes To Retail

Harmonix packs twenty classic tunes from the likes of The Who, Rush, Steve Miller Band, and The Police into the Classic Rock Track Pack, a standalone disk hitting store shelves in May.

The Rock Band Track Pack: Classic Rock is the latest retail expansion for the Rock Band series, with 20 classic rock tracks playable as a standalone game on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, or PlayStation 2. PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners will also be able to download all 20 songs to their normal Rock Band or Rock Band 2 set list.

It's a rather lovely selection, as you can see below, with two songs each from Boston, The Who, The Police, Steve Miller Band, and Rush, with a smattering of random solo tracks from Stone Roses, Lenny Kravitz, Free, and others, just to keep things spicy. I'm a bit confused as to how Siouxsie and The Banshees made it onto the disc, but I won't complain all that much.

The Rock Band Track Pack: Classic Rock should hit store shelves on May 19th, at a price of US$29.99.

Kotaku AU Note: No word on an Australian release, but we'd expect this to hit local stores around the same time.

I wouldn't bet on it coming to Australia at the same time as the US. EA's treatment of this region with Rock Band has been nothing short of abysmal. It took them a full year to bring Rock Band out down here. Rock Band 2's been out in the US for over 6 months now, and still not even a mention of an Australian release. It took them 3 months just to bring the AC/DC pack out down here. I wouldn't bet on this being released within any reasonable timeframe either.

I cant fathom why they keep region locking the track packs... soooo dumb, it's like they're trying to make the PAL region hate them

    Woo, Boston!!

I don't think these track packs are really a big issue. Most people have internet of some kind, so they can just get on XBL/PSN/Wii Store and download the specific tracks they want (hint: Boston). Obviously Rock Band 2 down here is a much bigger issue, made more obvious since alot of the "full album" downloads are missing one track that's on the RB2 disc.
