Aussie Charts: We Still Have a ‘New’ Number One

Aussie Charts: We Still Have a ‘New’ Number One

ea-sports-active-packA remarkable thing happened this week. A thing that saw neither Wii Fit, Wii Play nor Mario Kart in the top three.

Of course, they’re all still in the top ten.

Pokemon Platinum hangs onto the number one slot after its spectacular debut last week. EA Sports Active fills the exergaming void in a top three sans Wii Fit. And UFC’s entry demonstrates just how many Australian gamers enjoy going north-south with sweaty men.

Oh, and a big “Hi” to Killzone 2, popping back into 10th place after several weeks’ absence.

  • Another new release multiplatform title, another win to the PS3 version…

There hasn’t been many times in 2009 so far when the 360 has come out on top!?

  • 360 seems far more aggressively marketed here – but the Playstation brand name still holds sway.

I have a lot of non-hardcore gamer friends who bought PS3s just because they had PS2s… 360 struggles to break that.

    • Because the xbox didn’t really have that many great games (both in terms of quality and variety) while the PS/PS2 were loaded. Its most definately the other way around now so its probably in the next generation you’ll see the brand loyalties start to change.
      That’s my prediction anyway 🙂

  • Interesting, are all the nintendo games on that list the ones that they heavily advertise here in australia? I wonder if they started advertising other games, they too would go up the charts….
