Microsoft Officially Doubling Xbox 360 Arcade Storage

The Xbox 360 Arcade is becoming a slightly more sensible purchase, as Microsoft is officially doubling the built-in flash memory for the console to 512MB, confirming rumoured details uncovered by members of the XboxHacker forums.

We contacted Microsoft to double-check on the increase and received the following statement. "We are doubling the size of the internal memory of the Xbox 360 Arcade from 256 MB to 512 MB," a Microsoft spokesperson told Kotaku. "We want to offer consumers a bit more memory at the same low price so they can enjoy more experiences on Xbox LIVE."

When we can expect to see that change reflected on, console packaging and elsewhere we're still looking into.

    Isn't it funny!?

When mobiles first came out with cameras they were so expensive. Now they are just expected and a new top of the range phone without a camera would make headlines. (iphone without mms or recording anyone... i know i know, i've heard of 3G S and 3.0 pfft)

Now.. when USBs came out 1gb or 2gb was around 100 bucks. Now they are like 20 bucks or even cheaper. I really don't see it being too hard to make the in-built around 2gb. That way Arcade players can have a few game saves.

I don't intend on ever buying an Arcade. But just thinking of the consumers. 120GB or 60GB HDDs are a major rip off. It's not that expensive to make storage at LEAST 1gb.
