Halo: Reach Will (Probably) Be Bungie's Last Halo Game

Since the company came together in 1991, Bungie have worked on five Halo games: Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach. Will they ever do a sixth? Probably not.

In an interview with CVG, Bungie senior designer Lars Bakken has said in response to the "is this the last Bungie Halo?" question:

In terms of a platform for Halo games made by Bungie, yes. I can't answer that question for Microsoft though. Whether they have something in the works or not, I don't know if they're actually ready to talk about it yet, but in terms of Bungie-produced Halo games, ODST and then Reach is probably all you're going to get.

It's a little ambiguous, leaving open room for another "expansion" for Reach similar to what we're getting with ODST, but then, it's also mostly clear: that's it for Bungie and Halo. Time to move on, water under the bridger, greener pastures, you get the idea.

Let Microsoft worry about exploiting expanding the franchise.

Halo Reach to be Bungie's last 360 game [CVG]

Seems strange. I always thought they'd try and make it to 7 games
Can't wait to see what they come up with next though

Hmm, i disagree. Bungie do Halo the best & i think MS will be dumb to exploit the franchise without them. Minus Halo Wars.

I think after Reach they NEED to take a break from Halo games and do something "they" want. Halo is obviously their flagship title, its what THEY created. Bungie probably love the idea of making Halo titles, but i think a lot of pressure was from MS to keep making them.

I reckon they need to branch out a little, make 1 or 2 un-halo-related games and then maybe come back to Halo and possibly start fresh. Continue from Halo 3 but do something different.

I hope no other studio tries to tackle the challenge of making another Halo game. It will be big responsibility to create game that works so well campaign and online. I don't think anyone could capture the Halo playability online like Bungie does.

WARNING TO MICROSOFT, for the sake of fans, sales & the reputation of Halo. Let Bungie do it, but give them time. I mean you could even wait until the next Xbox to develop a new Halo game, like Halo 4 or whatever it will be titled if Bungie decide to do continue the plot to the cliffhanger at Halo 3.

Yeah although not a fan of the series myself, i think its about time Bungie hung up the gloves. Better they left on a high and leave the exploiting to MS.
