Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition Comes With Prestige Price

Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling revealed the contents of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's "Hardened" and "Prestige" editions of the game last night. The top tier version comes with working night vision goggles and, as expected, a first class price.

To get the super ultra deluxe limited version, which includes an art book, limited Steelbook case and a token to download the original Call of Duty, plus the aforementioned goggles, expect to pay $US149 USD. That's the suggested retail price of the "Prestige" edition, almost twice that of the $US79 "Hardened" edition.

Infinity Ward also confirmed via its Twitter account that the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network versions of the original Call of Duty will have multiplayer support.

With Guitar Hero 5, DJ Hero, Tony Hawk's Ride and now Modern Warfare 2 all sporting $US100-plus options, we're guessing that Activision will have some serious revenue to boast about come 2010. How well all these giant boxes will sit with retail, however, is another matter.

Any word on whether this will hit Australian shores?

November 10 last I spoke to an EB Games salesman.

Lock me in! Will depend on the quality of the night vision goggles :)

really people want this? I think this is a huge waste of money. Im going to go for the steelbook version. I mean giving us the orig Call of Duty is an awsome addon, night vision goggles are a waste of money, you would use them once or twice and a year later you would be like wtf was i thinking.

Give us extra content, artwork, not night vision gogle.s

Totally agree with you, exactly how i feel with the Halo 3 Legendary Edition. I don't have any room to put the helmet anywhere, so thats probably one of the reasons why it feels pointless, oh and the fact it is unwearable.

But this still looks really cool. You're obviously not going to get the best quality NVG when you're only gonna fork out $200 and it also includes 2 games & artwork. But it's just the FUN of it all.

BTW: Halo 3 Legendary Edition cost exactly $200 from what i can remember. So this is definitely going to be $190 minimum, but RRP will most likely be around $210 to $240.

Andy, do you know how expensive NV goggles are otherwise? they can be between $1000-$5000, depending on quality (which means that these may be crap).

Having said that though, them goggles is damn huge, even for NV. I forsee an epidemic of neck-cramps and headaches.

Hopefully it comes to Australia! I know it's ridiculous, but I've always wanted Night Vision Goggles of my very own, ever since I saw Jurassic Park for the first time as a kid. That Soap McTavish head is pretty fucking funny, but I'll proudly display it on my shelf, in all it's creepiness.

I think US$150 is pretty good, considering the game would go for about US$70 with the steelbook anyway, the artbook for about US$10 and CoD for about US$10, which means you are getting NVGs for about US$60! In comparison, the cheapest NVGs you can get from Kitbag.com are about US$300, and they aren't headgear, they're like binoculars.

But it will probably be like $300 if it ever reaches here anyway.

The NVGs look like a Virtual Boy... maybe Nintendo should release one with the next Wii version of COD? But yeah, it seems Activision adds $10 worth of plastic so they can double the price of their games. And it seems to be working.

I see an added adantage in my NERF battles...

      *advantage...sorry about that

OMFG ok im one of the people that will buy the prestige edition when you think about it USD $149 is about AUD $188 so it seems like a fair price but my guess is that the nightvision will be shit most likly they will work but a limited rang of view but still worth it

no chance of it being under $200 i reckon, minimum $250RRP even if the conversion does sit around $190.

All I can think of is, "Prestige Worldwide-wide-wide-wide..."

      haha boats n hoes!

chances are they are generation 0 NVG, which were used in WWII and are a kids toy, something like 15 m visibilty i think, they should give us modern NVG, since it is modern warfare ;)

Considering the gaming industry habit of taking the US price and doubling it for the Australian market, i'm gonna guess around at least $250.
Screw that. One regular version for me, please.

hey guys does modern warfare 2 prestige edition come out on ps3 in australis

o yea and it is 186 in autralian dollars i heard

yeah, that's what $150US converts to. hopefully it isn't more than $200 here. if it's any more it's so ripped off
