LunchTimeWaster: Silent Conversation

silent-conversation-picHere’s a neat twist on interactive fiction, turning the prose of classic literature into a platform game.

You control a cursor. The words of the text (HP Lovecraft’s The Nameless City is pictured) are laid out before you like the platforms of a side-scroller. As you run from left to right you highlight each word you touch. the more words you touch, the higher your score.

Some words are difficult to reach. Others – the red ones – leave their place in the text and hunt you down. Lovely piano music plays in the background. It’s quite the stimulating way to read a book.
