Mad Catz Reveals Extensive Modern Warfare 2 Lineup

When Mad Catz announced a partnership with Activision to develop Modern Warfare 2 accessories, we expected a couple of branded controllers and maybe a console skin or two. They had a bit more in mind.

Yes, there will be console skins and branded controllers from Mad Catz, but that's just a small selection of the merchandise Mad Catz has up its sleeves. Hell, even the branded controllers are something special, with both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions sporting two additional buttons on the rear, perfect for shifting melee and sprint away from the analogue control sticks.

Both consoles are also getting unique communication options—a Bluetooth headset for the PS3 and a military design throat microphone for the 360, which sounds like an excellent solution for those gaming in high-noise environments.

On the PC side of things, Mad Catz is rolling out a game pad, a mouse, and two keyboards, one of which is built off of the Saitek Cyborg line of gaming keyboards, which is the one I currently use. $US99 is a bit steep, but I've been extremely satisfied.

Comments

well, prices mean nothing. i wanna see them in the "flesh" so to speak. its a bit disappointing that the ps3 controller isnt going to use BT though. so that right there is an instant fail really. no-one wants more friggin dongles dangling around. although the 2 extra buttons just might make up for it. i have been tossing up which console to buy it for... ive pre ordered the prestige ed for the ps3 but i think i'll buy a copy for the 360 too, depending on what the controllers look like. im not too interested in the headset, ive already got the official ps3 hs and it is the best by far! as for the 360 i have no problems using 1 of the millions of free headsets i have already ;) they seem to come bundled with everything!

Their xbox controls are usually pretty nice, especially in the d-pad department. But I just can't go back to wired.

    Oh it's wired!

Someone who takes it so seriously playing at home, then maybe the wired is for them.

But when you wanna plug in a headset if you don't use wireless, it's a tad annoying having that in your way let alone a Play & Charge or the cord of a wired controller.

I mean, exactly how much BETTER response time does wired offer you. IMO - not someone who plays in tournaments and isn't pro or anything, not too great of difference i would say.

But i wanna see it and see more about this extra buttons thing. My thumbs do get a little annoyed after clicking to sprint after a while.

Just, the reflex time i'm concerned about. Sprinting into a building or around a corner and then see an enemy, you gotta move your finger to the trigger from the button if you wanna aim for better accuracy etc... It also feels comfortable as such, when sprinting using the analog. I mean, you are steering the view whilst clicking in and it works well. It annoys me after a while cause my thumb may get sore, but pressing a button whilst pushing forward with the analog and steering the view with the other just seems like so much at once.

Eh, i wanna see a picture first. But yeah, i prefer wireless better. Just seems like the X360 Wireless headset don't stay charged very long.
