Milla Jovovich On Why They're Making Another Resident Evil Movie

Hollywood has already churned out three Resident Evil films. Three films? That's a trilogy. Now, director Paul W.S. Anderson and his star/fiancéee Milla Jovovich are making a fourth. Why? Money.

"The movie makes money," says Jovovich. "If it makes more money than the last one, you'd think that people want to see another one, so we'll do another one. There's been a lot of interest online, there's been a lot of letters from fans... film company. It's not like I said, 'Hey, honey! Let's do another one right away!' I mean, it's an expensive film and it's all business and if the third one didn't do well, there wouldn't be another one."

Slated for a September 2010, the fourth film is dubbed Resident Evil: Afterlife and will be in 3D. According to Jovovich, Anderson has been busying himself by boning up on every 3D film that's ever been made. "Especially for a movie like this," the actress adds, "because it's wild and a lot of action and a lot of potential for 3D to use the medium at its best."

Anderson has inked a deal with the folks who are doing Avatar's 3D to bring their expertise to Afterlife.

    These movies suck.

I agree... the last one was the "best" one in the series, but even that wasnt that great. But lets face it the whole film series is built on a money-train... Milla, as much as I hate her, is only telling it like it is... if it werent for the money then they wouldn't bother. But as long as there is money to be had then these kind of "actors/actresses/directors" will continue to cash in.

Instead of going about creating something cool and fresh, they'll just churn the same crap out time and time again and make as much as they possibly can. What we should do, as consumers, is reject this shit... whether that means boycotting the release by not paying to see it and urging others to simply ignore the studio until they decide that perhaps a good story is more important than a brand name. I for one wouldnt want to put my name to a shit-fight film franchise like Resident Evil.

Although I'm not a fan of of the franchise at least she's honest!

What a rare and welcome display of honesty. People tend to forget that video games and movies are an industry, which means their entire purpose is to make money. And before anyone knocks W.S. Anderson or Jovovich for selling out, remember how many people are involved in making a movie like this. That's a whole lot of jobs, and nothing to sneeze at.

Yes, the movies sucks, but if you don't like it, don't watch it. It's as simple as that.

The RE movies are a guilty pleasure of mine. I've never liked the games, at all. Could never get in to the story. But I grew up watching Z-Grade horror and zombie flicks so maybe that speaks more to why I like the movies. That and Milla with no bra = entertaining.

Sorry, but I'm a fan of zombie apocalypse movies. Always wondered what'd happen years after zombies take over. Would they evolve intelligence? Just decompose, leaving earth as barren as Mars?

I like how people forget that Humans aren't the only species on this planet.
