Dungeons & Dragons Online Now Free For All

After a rather lucrative week's worth of testing the waters, Turbine has launched Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited, the free-to-play rebirth of Dungeons & Dragons Online.

Following a preview week for VIP subscribers that indicated huge success for Turbine's new free-to-play, microtransaction-based structure, Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited is now live for anyone who wishes to partake.

"Today Turbine changes the way gamers experience their online entertainment by providing them with a choice in how they pay and play for a premium MMO," said Jim Crowley, CEO of Turbine, Inc. "The DDO Unlimited Beta program has been a huge success and the initial response to the game from both press and players has been nothing short of phenomenal. In response, we have already more than doubled our capacity to handle the increased demand."

To play, simply head on over to www.ddo.com and download the game.

Started a rouge and am really enjoying it so far.
LOTRO remains my primary mmo, but i think ddo will be a great free game for getting a few friends around and crawling through a few dungeons, diablo style.
As for the "it's not really free" whiners. It's free enough.
Pretty much all the content they originally launched the game with is free, and we're talking small payments if you want something like another character slot.
    As in, under $10US.
Plus, adventure packs are purchased for your account, not to your character, so you only have to pay once and those extra dungeons are always available to you from then on. I don't see how anyone can be complaining about this...

well i have been trying for weeks to get on this "free 2 play" thing DDO has going on but I can not because Turbine says i need a product key to get a turbine account to play. I have spent several hours trying. I am ready to give up . I will look for the game in the stores today....so IMO it is not so easy to enter the game as it should be if they wish to attract a larger player base.
