Res 5, LittleBigPlanet To Support PS3 Motion Controller

Well, we now know what that “Resident Evil 5: Director’s Cut” stuff was all about. It’s a re-release of Res 5, built to take advantage of Sony’s upcoming motion controller.

The game will be out in Spring 2010, and it’s far from the only existing PS3 title to take advantage of the new peripheral. During SCEJ’s TGS press conference, Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida revealed that the controller will also work with exsting games like LittleBigPlanet, EyePet, Flower, Pain, High Velocity Bowling “and more”.

Whether, like Res 5, you’d need to buy new versions of the game to use the motion controller or just install an update wasn’t elaborated. We’ll update if we hear more.

  • Well, that’s a let down. Why would I want to buy a new copy of the game just to use it with “motion controls”? How is that going to improve the game? If it had been extra content, sure, but I think I’ll be passing on that, Sony.

  • The Directors Cut isn’t just RE5 – maybe with LittleBigPlanet (that might come with an update unless they re-release it with all this extra content that makes use of the motion controls).

But RE5 has all other content too, kinda of like releasing a GOTY edition that comes packed with all DLC from XBL Marketplace for example.

LBP i reckon would suit the motion controls especially since they the motion is so precise and all.

  • Perfect, RES5 is awesome, but I’ve been playing RES4 on the Wii, and the controls are much better (aiming, still too much waggle though). This new DC will have the best of both worlds.
