So How Did That Japan PS3 Slim Launch Go?

The PS3 Slim launched today in Japan—there was even a special launch event at the Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara. Kotaku Japan was on hand for the festivities.

There was a countdown and folks could check out PS3 title Mobile Suit Gundam: Battlefield Record U.C.0081 on the big screen in front of Yodobashi Camera.

The above pic was taken at 9.00am. The first in line had gotten there at 7.00am. The event started at 9.20am, complete with countdown.

Here is the countdown. It is, as they say, counting down.

This is the line at 9.15am. Can you feel the suspense? Can you?

And the doors open.

Don't worry! More folks showed up at 9.30am to pick up the console. This is a workday. People have jobs—pre-orders, too! Some people even have jobs that require them to get dressed and work in an office. Not everyone can sit in their underwear all day long.

This is what a Gundam played on the big screen in front of Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara looks like. Now you know.

And if you've ever wondered what Kotaku Japan's Osada-san looks like buying a PS3 Slim, well, now you know that, too.
