Blizzard Starts Selling In-Game World Of Warcraft Pets

It was only a matter of time. Blizzard has just put up a pair of in-game pets for World of Warcraft for sale on the Blizzard Store. Would you pay $US10 for a Pandaren Monk or a baby Kel'Thuzad?

The two new non-combat pets now available for purchase at the Blizzard Store represent the first time actual in-game items could be purchased directly with real money outside of the World of Warcraft game proper. Lil' K.T. is a chibi version of everyone's favourite undead agent of the Lich King, Kel'Thuzad, while the Pandaren Monk is a...Pandaren Monk. The pets run players $US10 apiece, with half of the proceeds of every Pandaren purchase going towards the Make A Wish Foundation until December 31, after which the kids can just make their own wishes come true.

Look for more pets to show up in the Pet Store in the coming months, and who knows? If this takes off, we could be witnessing the beginning of a full-fledged World of Warcraft item store.

I'd contemplate it, that's for sure. However this is one step closer to full RMT in WoW - What's next? offering in-game badges or items for real money? As much as I enjoy playing the game, that stuff is the sort of thing that'd make me quit for good..

Either this or paying gold farmers (and get hacked), take a pick.

As long as they're just vanity items I'm all up for it. But if they sell gears on top of monthly payment it will be the breaking point for me.

I don't think Blizzrd would cross that line. They'll allow paying for everything else, but never something that directly gives one player an advantage over another.

I think that Blizzard will go that way once they've announced WoW is free-to-play and they start making untold amounts of more money from micro transactions.

Blizzard of old maybe, but remember we're dealing with ActiBlizzard these days and if Kotick thinks there's a buck in it he won't hesitate.

So this game has officially jumped the shark.

There was a pretty slim chance of me ever going back, now it's zero.

This is really, really sad. They don't even care about the lore they worked so hard to create anymore? :'(

Yeah I tried to buy it today but the site was faulty and not processing the purchases I hope to have it tomorrow.
