Supreme Commander 2 Secures Early 2010 Release

Square Enix has announced an early 2010 release window in Europe for Gas Powered Games' RTS Supreme Commander 2, dispatching a celebratory batch of screenshots along with the news.

Set 25 years after the original Supreme Commander, Supreme Commander 2 features an extensive campaign mode and online multiplayer, all wrapped up in an engine that sacrifices polygons for performance but still manages to look spectacular.

The release marks one of the first times Square Enix is publishing a Western-developed game in Western regions, and Gas Powered Games Creative Director Chris Taylor couldn't be more pleased.

"The partnership with Square Enix has been a highlight of my career. I couldn't be more proud of what the team has accomplished, as the game has continually exceeded all of my expectations throughout its development."

Supreme Commander 2 will be released on the Xbox 360 and PC in Europe this spring. I'd expect the North American release either at the same time or slightly earlier.

    Those screenshots look insane.

But no release date? I knew it was Q1 2010!

Oh just bring it on! I can't get an Aussie release date confirmed anywhere :(

If it runs better on lower spec systems - good! But Supcom is not too bad anyway - it needs some grunt from the CPU but it was not dependent on a big screen to look good due to the zoom-in-zoom-out interface - you were not greatly disadvantaged by a 17 inch screen. And an 8600gt will play Supcom ok and they are worthless now. And old q6600 intels are cheap too.

Also, while changing the proliferation experience might be good, a simple answer would be a mod that allows you to spend a set period developing some infrastructure, save it, register and verify it in some way and then be able to start multiplayer or online games with that set up.

Anyway, to recap, bring it on!!!
