Next time write... PS3 console at all time right price... considering that the PS3 held an over inflated price bracket, it no wonder everyone is jumping on board. I bought one for $250 brand new the other day!(fat 40gb) No way was I paying $650 12 months ago... what a rip...

I personally disagree. I would easily spend $1,000 on a new gaming machine (PC), and that would be holding back. I spent $2,600 not long ago, and that PC only lasted 3 years. I got my PS3 at $700 and it will no doubt last me a good 8 years. I think the price is well justified, it's just a matter of perspective.

$250 sure is a bargain though, nice one!

Each to their own, everyone has their own price entry point...

Personally, Day 1 consumer, all up probably $1300 worth, but with trade bait probably cost me $1000 for PS3 60GB, 3 Games + extra controller.

Now, I've had the console for 2.5 years now... Do I feel as though I have received $1000 worth of value over the past 2.5 years? No doubt about it. I'm probably not the only one either...

Never really thought that the PS3 has been a "rip-off", just expensive. Which wasn't helped because it's competitors were always about $100-150 cheaper.

Paid $400 for the Wii on launch, now thats a rip.

I'm with you. PS3, several games, extra controller, HDMI cable, 5 year warranty....grand total of 1600 bucks a couple of years back. Yet I'm still very happy with the value that I've recieved, especially when you keep in mind how much a bluray player cost back then, add in wireless and no monthly subscriptions, and it really was a bargain IMO. Now with playtv for $170 and $100 for a 500gig drive.....$270 for a Digital video recorder......good times I think

It really comes down to what your getting out of the investment.

I purchased the Wii close to its release date as the price point was appealing, that was my only console for about 5 months until I decided to buy a PS3 due to lack of content suited to my tastes.

To date I have probably spent 500-600 hrs playing my PS3 compared to about 100-150 playing my Wii.

I don't think either console was a rip off, if I were to go see a movie I would pay around $20 for about an hour and a half of entertainment both of these consoles have given me value for money entertainment regardless of the price point but in saying that the PS3 has given me better value for money overall even though the initial start up cost was higher, this is mainly due to lack of appealing content on the Wii's part though.

Agreed, i spent 650 or so on my PS3 and then about 100 for all the extra cables and controller. I've loved it ever since i got it and definately considered it a worthy investment.
