Shadow Of The Colossus Getting New Budget Re-release In Japan

Japanese retailers and import shops are showing a new release for Team ICO's PlayStation 2 classic Shadow of the Colossus, due to hit Japan early next year. With The Last Guardian coming "soon", is this a good sign?

Because Shadow of the Colossus has already hit Sony Computer Entertainment Japan's "The Best" line of budget re-releases, so a re-issue means... well, we're not sure. That they're simply out of copies and that someone in Japan is hungry for Colossus slaying on the cheap?

The bad news is that this is not a a God of War Collection–style release for the PlayStation 3, giving ICO and Shadow of the Colossus a high-def once-over to drum up interest in The Last Guardian. But it may be a good sign that Sony sees value in Team ICO lead Fumito Ueda's desire to give the first two games in the series a PlayStation 3 calibre presentation.

I never got to play ICO, but Shadow Of The Colossus was awesome. I'd love to see a blu-ray compilation of the pair though. Shadow of the Colossus in high-definition? Yes please!

I'd really love to see a PS3 compilation, I haven't finished playing God of War yet, let alone number 2, but there still lots of fun. So Ico and Shadow of Colossus should be brilliant

I can't say enough how much I would love to see Shadow of the Colossus in HD. I mean, the colossi are impressive enough. Can you imagine what they'd be like in HD on a big screen?! Truly awesome!

Ico & Shadow of the Colossus running in High-definition, playing at 60fps..... a man can only dream.
