Aussie Nintendo Store: Objection!

What’s new this week for WiiWare, DSiWare and Virtual Console in Australia? Let’s find out from Vooks.

This week’s update looks good on the surface – four games, sure, but you’ve probably already played at least one.

First up for WiiWare is the DS port of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s a fantastic game, and here for 1000 Points it’s pretty good value too. However, the port is extremely lazy. This version sees the DS graphics blown up to twice their resolution and the entire game runs with borders. Secondly, there are only minor additions to the game like gesture-based objections, though these are higher-resolution images plastered over the normal graphics. Thirdly, it’s not even the entire game – the last chapter of the game will be made available for extra Points later on.

The Elektroplankton instruments finally make their way out of Japan and into the US. We’ve got two to whet our appetite with the Beatnes and Hanenbow variations hitting this week for 200 Points each. Elektroplankton was a 2005 DS title which never made its way over here. It featured a bunch of different ‘plankton’-based instruments which you could play by manipulating them on the DS touch screen to make music. The Beatnes is probably the best one as it allows you to remix several NES games’ soundtracks like Super Mario Bros. Hanenbow you may remember from the stage of the same name in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. You adjust leaves on a plant as fish jump out of the water, and the angle and position of the leaves nets you a different sound. All of the Elektroplankton instruments are just 200 Points, so expect to see them rolled out over the coming weeks. Lastly on DSiWare is Hudson pushing out another Sudoku game to us. This is, like, the 50th Sudoku game on the service. Did we really need another one?

Oh yeah, and no Virtual Console titles again.
