Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts & On Demand

Rare's 2008 platformer meets vehicle builder Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is the latest addition to the Xbox 360 Games on Demand library, a perfect opportunity to see what all the genre fuss was about by way of digital download.

Pricing for me, in these United States, is $US19.99 and the downloadable version of Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts necessitates 6GB worth of bear and bird storage. Me? I already have a copy (or two) and don't feel the need for another, despite liking the game enough to not outright dislike it.

You? Are you on board with these Games on Demand releases? Or would you rather have a disc, a toxic green case and a manual to never read?

I think the digital download market really needs to be competing with the second-hand game market, not the new game market (unless they intend to start releasing games digitally simultaneously with toxic-green-case releases).

You log onto eBay, you can pick up most of the Games on Demand for approx that price or cheaper, and you get it straight to your door.

In Australia too we have sketchy broadband access. I don't have the greatest net connection, but this particular download would wipe out a third of my monthly allocation, which essentially adds about $15 to its price.

yeah in aus i have to wait till before my broadband resets to download digitally.

For the same price, id rather have the box and disc. But since steam is so goddamned cheap....

Most of the time, especially when a game is first released I've found that it's exactly the same price whether you download it or buy the disc from a shop.

So yeah, unless they offer huge discounts on the downloadable versions (which they should because they don't have to pay for producing the case and manual etc.) I would rather have a disc, case and manual any day.

And believe it or not, I do read the manual for almost all games I buy (If it's a second hand game and there's no manual for it, I won't buy it)
