DeathSmiles Smiles On North America

The top-selling shoot-em up of this console generation is coming to North America, as Aksys Games announces a US release for Cave's brilliant Xbox 360 gothic lolita shooter, DeathSmiles.

DeathSmiles is a scrolling shooter, but instead of piloting spaceships through unknown galaxies, you fly young angels and their demonic familiars through the gothic world of Gilverado, which is plagued by monsters and tortured souls. Monsters and tortured souls with a bajillion bullets at their disposal, apparently. There are five characters to choose from, three different difficulty levels, and online co-op play through Xbox Live Arcade. You can even save your replays, pulling them out to entertain party guests or something... I don't know.

I do know that I love a good shump, and judging by Japan's reaction to the game, DeathSmiles counts. It should be interesting to see how the only shoot-em up to break the Japanese top 10 this generation fares in the states.

I love shmups, so here's hoping we'll see a European release too.

ANy chance this gets ported onto the PS3 =D?

I've been waiting go for this to be on PS3 for 2 years already. Come on man, at least on Wii even.

Hooray for Bullet Hell games =D

Now... who wants to start the price pool on the odds of a PAL/AU release =P

Great game in the arcade! LOVE CAVE :) BUT!... Wasn't the Japanese home port so buggy and broken when it was firt released that they had to do a public apology? Hope it's all been fixed and polished for the US release.

Chances of an Aussie release -next to zero, region free US release -maybe. Cave has floated the idea before and did release their last Jap game region free.
