"Overseas" Version Of Final Fantasy XIII Finished

Final Fantasy XIII has been released on the PS3 in Japan, but the multi-platform version won't be out until this March in the West. Square Enix announced the the "overseas version" is finally completed.

In an online letter to European gamers, FFXIII game director Motomu Toriyam writes, "FINAL FANTASY XIII overseas version is finally completed." He then apologises for the long wait. Continuing, he adds:

The overseas version was developed simultaneously with the Japanese one as we wanted to ensure that it comes out as soon after the Japanese release date as possible.

In the completed FINAL FANTASY XIII, the features which were popular amongst gamers at our survey last summer have been enhanced even further.

One of those features is characters' facial animations, which work as the core of any human drama. Their movements are completely synchronised with the English lines and, due to this, each scene in the game is truly spectacular...

...Don't get distracted. You will see the truth when you hold it in your hands. Please be patient a little longer for the 'day of a battle against the fate"!

Check out the game's synched-up English voice acting in this new FFXIII trailer.

You know valve developed adaptive facial animation technology in source engine to get around the lip sync issue in source like 6-7 years ago....

He's talking about refining that element of the game to make consumers happy... what's the problem? It's in no way relevant whether that technology was released yesterday or 500 years ago.

They could have done like FFX and not bothered lip syncing for English, I for 1 am very happy they they decided to redo all of their facial animation from japanese to english. Really makes a difference

Youd think Square Enix could afford better voice actors...

Normally their voice acting is top notch, Haley Joel Osment, Hayden Panettiere, Billy Zane. (Ok that was kingdom hearts).

David any word on there being a collectors edition?

The only English voice acting I've ever been able to stand is in the Persona games, mainly P3 and P4. Other then that English voice acting has always sounded horribly awkward and corny to me =[

    great movie, must watch

What about the original Japanese audio with English subtitles? Why do the English voice actors always sound soo low budget.

I don't think they really do, I daresay it's just a case that Japanese dialogue is fucking horrible, and the Japanese language, which is very emotive, hides this.

I'm not going into the whole YOU ONLY LIKE IT 'CAUSE YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND IT (though this is very true for a majority of people!). Japanese is simply much more emotive than English, and *that* is probably why it sounds "high budget".

I don’t think they really do, I daresay it’s just a case that Japanese dialogue is fucking horrible, and the Japanese language, which is very emotive, hides this.

What a very stereotypical comment. I agree that our language is much more emotive than english, but that does not translate into bad dialogue mr chris. when i compared the english trailer to the orginal one, really... the english version lacks realism.not on the audio but on the actual content. japanese language is one of the most sophisticated in the world, and it simply does not translate itself to english, yes, because it will sound so fucking horrible in english, but sound so right in ours. so im sorry if you cant understand it the way we do.. but when did we ever want to hear ur feedbacks?

Does this mean the overseas 360 version is done as well ya think... orr..?
