EA Working Up Penalty For FIFA Quitters

Ragequitting has been a strong topic of discussion as EA Sports Canada looks to FIFA 11's development, with the studio envisioning a system of reward and penalty for those who complete matches versus those who quit from a losing position.

In an interview with Eurogamer, the 2010 FIFA World Cup producer Simon Humber said the team is considering a reward system in FIFA 11. However, it does pose a "complex problem", considering some might leave a game because of a dropped connection, rather than giving up. The game has a "five-minute" rule that allows players to bail in the first five minutes of a game if the uplink proves spotty.

"After that there should be a penalty; just in the online world there are complexities that mean by the time the data comes back to our servers, something there means it doesn't award the win to the right person. So we're always looking to improve that," Humber told Eurogamer.

No such fixes will be made by the time 2010 FIFA World Cup releases on April 30. Any changes made would be implemented with FIFA 11 in the fall.

EA to Tackle Online Quitters in FIFA 11 [Eurogamer]

I've had plenty of games cut out on me, sometimes without showing any signs of lag beforehand. Not necessarily in the first 5 mins of a match

    this is a stupid idea

but what do i care, i don't play FIFA

i dont care if people want to quit, but i do care that EA give achievements based on quitting and make achievements based on whether the loser decides to deny you a win tally towards it.

Thank Christ! 99% of the problems will be solved if they just make any games where you're winning amd someone quits during the game or especially on the rematch screen (may those f^&*ers suffer the most excruciating deaths possible) count towards the Ton Up / Good Form achievements.
