Just Cause 2 Demo Gives You 35 Square Miles To Explore, Explode

A demo for Just Cause 2 is coming to the PlayStation Network, Steam, and Xbox Live next week, giving players 35 square miles of the Lautan Lama Desert, packed with plenty of things to do, see, and blow-up.

Just Cause 2 isn't due out in North America until March 23, but Avalanche Studios and Square Enix are so eager to get the game into your hands that they're giving you a literal sandbox to play in on March 4.

Featuring a 35 square mile segment of the game's 200 square mile islands, the demo gives players free reign to do whatever they'd like to do however they'd like to do it. The area is littered with towns, military installations, mountains, and missions, with numerous vehicles and weapons at your disposal and one of the game's 50 colonels waiting for you to take him down. It even houses one full, multi-stage mission that begins with the infiltration of a base and ends with a car chase through the desert.

It sounds like it could be the most fun you've had playing a demo in ages. I'm looking forward to spending countless hours seeing how far I can fall before opening my chute.

surely it will be a timed demo? or there'll be some features missing to encourage people to get the full game - otherwise with my attention span (average retail game gets 2 hours play), the demo will be all I need.

Wow, you're really not getting your money's worth if you're spending $60US for 2 hours.

I highly doubt they put all weapons and vehicles in the demo.

Mmmmmmhm... this is what happened to Just Cause 1... I played the demo and absolutely loved it, but I never bought the main game. Mostly because three years on it's still $50, but partially because the demo provided about four hours of gameplay if you didn't mind playing the first bit over before you got to just run around and do what you wanted. Seriously, it was huge. The timer was at about twenty minutes, but you could just start over again.

pity the majority of people wont be able to play it because it wont run on xp.

This game looks so awesome I can't imagine being completely satiated with the demo.

Not its not a pity, XP is outdated technology, and unless you move on to bigger and better things ie. DirectX 11. Were gonna be stuck with old physics and graphics quality for a long time. I personally think it should of went the one step futher (Dx11 and PhysX tech) that way we can really start getting so awe-inspiring games out.

It's March 5 and I can't see it on PSN.
