Yeah, it looked like star Control 3 to me, but consensus seems to be Solar Winds. I might have been playing those games around the same time.

The layout of the screen is exactly the same as Star Control II, which I was replaying recently, since it’s now Freeware as The Ur-Quan Masters. The actual screens for options are wrong for Star Control II though and Star Control 3 was in partial 3D

Overkill on PC
Was easily one of my favorite games growing up on my IBM 386 – i can’t explain how much i loved this game.. Unfortunately i never got to complete it due to a glitch on my disk which caused an install error so the game kept freezing when i was asumably half way through..
Still a fantastic game tho.. ahh the memories.

Solar Winds was released in 1993, from memory.
If you’re asking more broadly, I’ve posted games from the very early 80s (Atari 2600, Spectrum) all the way up to the late 90s (PSone, N64). Don’t think there have been any post-2000 games included.

Man I played a lot of Solar Winds. I mostly remember once you got the hyperdrive, and had to just fly around fighting to get enough energy to actually travel to another system – and it STILL took ages. I think 25 minutes or so watching your energy tick down and hoping you didn’t run dry in the miles of dead space between galaxies.
I never did figure out what the “life support” column was for though. I dialled it all the way down and I could breathe fine.
