The only thing more entertaining than playing Rock Band is standing about watching other people play. Cedar Fair Entertainment knows this, so they've teamed up with MTV Games to bring Rock Band Live on tour around June-August.
Rock Band Live is an all-new interactive experience that will be touring several Cedar Fair amusement parks around the country this summer. It's a "high-energy, concert-like stage show" featuring singers from across the country. Prior to each showing, guests at each venue will be able to play against each other for a chance to participate in the show itself, at important venues like Dorney Park in Allentown, PA, where the tour kicks off on Memorial Day weekend.
How important is Dorney Park? When I was growing up in Pennsylvania, nothing said "We can't afford Six Flags: Great Adventure" like a trip to Dorney Park.
The show will tour various Cedar Fair locations throughout the summer, with regular shows held at Canada's Wonderland and Cedar Point in Sandusky, starting in May and June respectively.
"We're extremely excited to merge the popular Rock Band video game with a unique, interactive live show for our guests this summer," said Jack Falfas, chief operating officer for Cedar Fair. "Rock Band is a pop culture phenomenon and we know families have enjoyed playing the game together at home. But now it's time for them to take it to the next level – on stage at one of our parks in front of a live audience."
If you're interested in being a part of the show proper, entertainment firm RWS & Associates will hold private auditions for the touring show on Thursday, March 4 at Ripley Grier Studios, 520 8th Ave (16th Floor) between 36th and 37th Streets (Press Room: 17B) in New York City.
