Behind The Scenes Of Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and stars Jake "Chesty" Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton discuss the story behind Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Disney's big-budget film based on the long-running gaming franchise.

Could this be the best video game to film adaptation of all time? All the pieces are in place. They seem to be following the story of the Sands of Time video game as faithfully as they can, given the medium. The special effects are reminiscent of those established in the game. The cast is filled with award-winning actors, and the footage we've seen so far is pretty damn spectacular.

Sure, it could still be a massive bomb. Maybe a sandstorm will hit the US between now and next month's release, making sand unfashionable.

It could happen.

    High hopes for this one!

I dunno, the trailer doesn't look much like the PoP I remember. It's already clear how they've treated the prince, turning him into the 'goof around a little in not so serious parts' before becoming the 'serious action hero in the action parts'. I'll still watch it, but anticipate being close to tears the whole way through.

The adaptoion is from the Sands of Time series of the games, which if you remember the later ones, he did horse around and make jokes with the only other NPC around before getting in to action.

It seems to be quite a faithful adaption so far, but I'm not going to keep my hopes up because I know how most video game movies fail.
