EA: Call Of Duty's Publisher Shoots Race Horses (?)

How much you enjoy petty squabbles between large multinational companies will determine how much you enjoy the latest instalment of the increasingly public soap opera surrounding Activision, EA and Call of Duty developers Infinity Ward. Me? I enjoy them immensely.

Earlier today, Activision put out a press release boasting of the success of Modern Warfare 2's downloadable map pack, and how this caused the company to raise its overall fiscal outlook for the quarter. Rival Electronic Arts, now revealed to be backers of the former Infinity Ward head's new studio, just couldn't let it go by without comment.

"This is kind of like announcing: The race horse I shot last month has won the Triple Crown!", EA director of corporate communications Jeff Brown told Industrygamers.

Petty, yes, immature, perhaps, but neither of those stop it from also being a lot of fun. It's like 2006 never ended.

Modern Warfare 'Race Horse' Was 'Shot' by Activision, says EA [Industrygamers]

I so hope there will be more comments like this hahaha!!

Anyone who sticks it to Bobby Kotick is cool in my books!

At least this Activision vs EA "Opera" is more interesting than the crap that's been on the media lately. *cough*TigerWoods*cough*LaraBingleMichaelClarke*cough*cough*

I wonder what it's like to be the most hated man in the gaming industry.

Luke's right, this stuff is like tabloid news for gamers, except those concerned are more intelligent, on average.
Can't say much for Activisions HR people, with infinity ward hemmoraging veterans, but it's fun to see EA hit back by saying what we're thinking.

Heh. It's so amusing for EA to be the good guys by comparison :)

EA being "good guys" over the last two years has thrown my world view so up in the air that I still don't know what to do about it.

They are making better games, without yearly minimal effort updates and trying interesting, risky things. They are even allowing studios some creative control.

      I don't even...

My reaction to the release of the map pack was to buy Bad Company 2 who were giving away expansions free (on PC atleast).

I find it hard to believe it was really that much of a success...
