EA Forms Real-World Racing Team

Continuing the series' move away from Fast & the Furious and towards the kind of corporate street racing seen in games like DiRT, EA today revealed the formation of Team Need For Speed, a real, proper racing team.

Made up of drivers like Mad Mike Whiddett, Patrick Söderlund and Matt Powers, they'll be racing in things like Formula D and the VLN Series in Europe.

The brand advertising is one thing, sure, but another is that EA will be filming the whole thing, and will release a 12-part series based on the formation and performance of the team. If it's not full of commercial punk music and slow-motion shots of cars drifting, I'll eat my beard.

Formula D? ...So it's still Fast and the Furious then? Still, any extra support for real motor racing is always welcome.
