LittleBigPlanet 2 Will Feature...Electronic Music

Electronic musician Christopher Leary (aka Ochre) has taken to Twitter today, pleased as punch to officially announce the inclusion of one of his songs in Sony's upcoming LittleBigPlanet 2. Whether Sony is as happy remains to be seen.

That's because while Leary is only too keen to go speaking publicly of the game's existence, Sony, the publisher of LittleBigPlanet, has made no such mention, making this the first we've actually heard of the sequel.

Not the most ideal way for a major first-party game to be announced, but there are much worse. Leary is, after all, a fine exponent of what I call "work music" (see Jon Hopkins, Ulrich Schnauss), and his stuff is a great fit for the game.

Wow, that sounds great! Strangely (considering that it's for LBP2), it reminds me a lot of music from a PS1 or PS2 era RPG =P

LBP2? AWESOME. Way to let the cat out of the bag... but not in any way ungrateful "D

Sounds great and has that LittleBigPlanet feel to it. Especially at about fifty seconds in when the bass line begins.

I call bull. It might be a LittleBigPlanet game, though I doubt it, but I doubt even greater that Media Molecule will make a second LBP on the PS3. Perhaps an add-on game, but not a sequel.

Hey, as long as it doesn't have that irritating song with the only lyrics being "with the people and the people and the something something" then I'm hyped.

Ha! I congratulate you, kotaku on a fine post.
Ulrich Schnauss pfft Ochre's melodys own. (See u-ziq, isan)

I don't care who announces LBP2 or when or where they announce it, as long as they make the damn thing. Presumably it'll get the "official" reveal at E3.
