Marvel Vs Capcom 3 is official, with at least 30 characters and a 2011 release date for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Capcom confirmed last week.

While only six of the game’s characters are shown in this short, almost entirely gameplay-free trailer, many others are hinted at.

What we know for sure is that Wolverine, the Hulk, Iron Man, Street Fighter’s Ryu, Darkstalker’s Morrigan and Resident Evil’s Chris Redfield will be in the game.

Judging by the art used to unveil the game and this video, here’s who else we think will be in the game:

Captain America, Super Skrull, Chun-Li, Deadpool, Felicia, Dante, Frank West, Mephisto, Black Widow and Doctor Doom all appear to show up as silhouettes in the promotional material.

Did you catch any others?

I’d also love to hear your thoughts on settings for the fights and, more interesting perhaps, what sort of fiction the two teams will be weaving to explain the battle royale that kicks the game off.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. If you’re interested in all of the other games coming from Capcom, including looks at Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, Bionic Command Rearmed 2, Super Street Fighter IV tournaments and Dead Rising 2 Coop, then you should bookmark our home to all things Captivate. Expect updates all week.

    • This is pretty unlikely. Capcom doesn’t tend to release ‘Super’ versions of their Versus titles. Granted, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars was a semi-sequel. But as its original purpose was to bring a version of the game to English-speaking territories, and was only released in Asia because of popular demand, I don’t think it really counts as a ‘Super’ version. ^^

  • Oh great …superskrull:-(

Where’s Doc Strange and Silver Surfer?

How about Galactus as the huge last boss before cyber-evil-ryu??

  • I… must get this game. Not the first version, of course, but I will get it.

Also, did anyone else laugh their butt off when Ryu yelled Hadouken? I thought the clip was over, then BAM! 😛

  • haha.

They pit Chris Redfield against Hulk.
I guess this is where Chris’ boulder punching abilities come in handy…

  • Oh great, Mephisto could be in the game. His ultimate super will be “RetCon 20 Years Of Character History And Development Because Of An Editors Mummy Issues”. It’ll reduce Megaman to an 8-bit sprite, give Chris Redfield laughably bad voice acting, strip Ryu down to only 3 special moves and turn Spider-Man into a pathetic 30-year old man-child living in his aunt’s attic having lame hookups with anything female.

Sorry, just couldn’t let that pass by without saying.

  • It probably is Captain America.. But (and this is probably just the hope talking) it may also look like Thor…. hmm..
Also, what may look like Mephisto to some, also kinda looks like Ghost Rider to me; and since he has a more prominant public profile.. (what with the crappy movie and all…) i find it more likely than Mephisto. (I hope it’s Mephisto though)
