Konami rebirths another of its 8-bit classics - admittedly, we may be a little fast and loose with that accolade - revealing an update to its 1985 side-scrolling stab-a-thon Rush'n Attack, currently in the works for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.
Known as Rush'n Attack Ex-Patriot, the side-scrolling arcadey throwback is planned to hit the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3's respective digital distribution networks sometime later this year. It's in development at Czech studio Vatra Games, the same developers chugging away at a new Silent Hill game for the 360/PS3.
Rush'n Attack Ex-Patriot will let players slice and shoot their way through a Siberian prison complex, a bio-weapons laboratory and a nuclear weapons base, all the while "armed with a little more than a knife". Yes.
With Rocket Knight and Rush'n Attack updates coming this year, what should Konami revive next? Jackal, maybe? First screens of Rush'n Attack Ex-Patriot below.
