World Of Warcraft: Cataclysm Beta Is Totally Nigh

Blizzard isn't putting a hard date on the third major expansion to its popular online role-playing game, but the Cataclysm add-on for World of Warcraft is on the verge of going beta. Blizzard is now sending out beta opt-in invites.

The WoW developer is "starting to gear up for the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm beta", accepting sign ups for the early look at the expansion until April 15. That's not the actual date the beta would go live, we should note, as Blizzard does "not currently have a date to announce for the start of the beta test."

It's been a long time since we've had a chance to go hands-on with World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, but it appears we'll get a fresh look at the expansion's major changes and be able to share our thoughts with you about them soon.

Please note that this round of beta invites appears to be for press only. We're sure that Blizzard will make a more formal public announcement when the Cataclysm beta goes wide. Until then, be cautious of any email promising beta access to the World of Warcraft add-on.

not calling you guys liars or anything but where did you get this info from?

i have only seen it listed here and on WoW.com and it was on WoW.com before you guys, with nothing found on mmo-champion or worldofraids.com which are bigger wow press sites than WoW.com

MMOC and WOR are big in their own right but I think Wow.com would kill them for hits per day. And as mentioned above, MMOC in particular, are not always in favour with Blizzard due to heavy data mining on new patches/beta clients and releasing news before Blizz make official announcements.

Also, could I get a job with Kotaku for the express purpose of stealing a beta invite? I require no pay and little-to-no walkies and am mostly house broken.

MMO Champ & World of Raids are hardly mainstream press + MMOC is known for data mining the shit out of everything they get their hands on. I really, really can't see Blizzard give them early access. Additionally I suspect Kotaku, 1up, IGN et al have a significantly higher visitor count than WOR/MMOC do :)
