You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet

Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of classic Nintendo series like Mario and the Legend of Zelda, hints that while his past deeds are what have made him famous, we shouldn't discount his future, either.

"In the past five years I've been working on such unusual titles like Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort", he told GamesTM. "Ten years ago I could never have been able to imagine that I would be making games like that. That's why I can say that the best is yet to come to me."

Miyamoto: "My best is yet to come" [MCV]

Bring it on! If this is true then I can't wait for a game/series that Miyamoto deems better than Zelda and Mario.

I'm sorry, but I've sort of discounted him. He might make something good, but his last real effort at a new franchise was Pikmin, and I liked the idea, but I wasn't a fan of the execution.

Oh, and that's not including the just plain odd Wii series of games such as Wii Fit and Wii Music.

Unfortunately Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports were, IMO, worse than his earlier epics. On this basis, he's getting worse. I hope he can pull it all back.

Lemme guess Shiggy... Mario in.. Space or some kind of interdimensional crap?
    Press A+B to win?
The same thing youve been making for twenty or so years?
As in, exact sameplots/areas/design and claiming its fan-centric or minimalist or some other crap a bad artist uses to describe their cheapness.
    I used to worship you.
Youre dead to me now Shiggy.
    No cake for you.

Shiggy knows what's best. Would love a new Windwaker style Zelda, and also for Sega & Nintendo to work together on a 3D Sonic game - now that would be something!

If Wii Fit and Sports is a glimse of what is to come from Miyamoto, that is really sad.
We dont care for Wii Fit or Sports, we want to play real games. Someone who is a fan of Zelda or Mario, doesnt just suddenly want to play a bunch of casual, mini games. I go to the gym each week, i dont need to jump around my lounge room. Sorry Miyamoto, you've lost touch with your fans. Time to give someone younger and more in touch a go at directing.

SHIGERU MIYAMOTO - A dissapointing finish, to a fantastic career.

Actually , Im an old-school Nintendo fan. Been playing the games since Game & Watch came out. And I love Wii fit, mostly because being the private person I am, I prefer to excercise in the privacy of my own home while at the same time getting the game addiction hit I need.

If he mixes Zelda/Metroid/Mario with Wii fit I would be delighted because it would get me off my fat arse!!!

Really? REALLY? He must have something big saved up to pull out of his arse! Wii Fit plus? Wii Sports? What has he been doing for the last few years? These are not "games" fit for a current gen console, hell Wii fit isn't technically a game! It's more of an application of your Wii for mothers and grandmothers who would rather run in their living room than outside...

I sincerely hope that he comes up with something brilliant, if only to draw attention away from the fact that he's actually only made about 3 games and just slapped a different sticker on it and called it something else.

De aint no body mo thug den Shigeru yo, he straight up own dis sh*t mayne, nahhhhmsayin g. Bustin dem ir bullets in da face of all da rivals yo, yeah, yeah, what.

I feel like I'm betraying my people a little here, but guys, I know we're gamers, on a gaming website, but you need to think a little further about Nintendo's enormous profits. By capturing the casual game market with exer- and edu- tainment titles, they've made a freaking fortune.

They still make a few games for us, even if the third party publishers are all intent on begging for scraps from the casual gamer table, but you can't blame them for wanting to turn a profit.

"They still make a few games for us"

Translate: they remake Mario & Zelda, over and over.

The further from the original those games get, the less I care.

Loved Metroid Prime, dissapointed by Metroid Prime 3!
