Magic The Gathering Gets Steam-Powered

After a successful run on Xbox Live Arcade, Wizards of the Coast is bringing Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers to keyboard and mouse set via Steam next month.

Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers for Xbox Live was an addictive little digital version of the long-running collectable card game, that I managed to escape only by virtue of having other things to do with my television, so when the game launches on Steam next month? I'm pretty much doomed.

Pre-load for the game starts on June 1, with the full game going live shortly after that, I'd assume. The Steam version will be fully integrated with Steamworks, repeating the benefits of auto-updating, Steam Achievements, Leaderboards, downloadable content, and multiplayer matchmaking.

As an added plus to PC players, the game will ship with the first expansion pack included, all for the low, low price of $US9.99.

Surely your soul isn't worth more than that?

Awesome, wanted to try this for ages.

I’ve got a shoebox full of like 2000 of these old cards, i never did quite know how to actually play this game.

The PC platform has been missing a MTG ( a good one ) for a long time. Now if they only made a full adaption of the core mechanics into one heck of a RPG game. With that they will have me at 'hello'.

damn you MTG! making us pay for even more nominal copies of cards

So it's June 2nd and the pre-load isn't out on steam yet. I need my fix! Any update to this story?
