Persona Moved From PS3 To PSP?!

There have been rumblings that the next Persona role-playing game, Persona 5, will be a PS3 game. The Australian Classification Board seems to have confirmed that. Or did it?

Earlier this week, the Classification Board’s website listed Shin Megami Tensei: Persona and “(PS3)”. The date of classification is May 24, 2010.

But is this Persona 5?

In March, Persona producer Katsura Hashino told Japanese magazine Dengeki PlayStation, “We are preparing to start work on the next Persona.”

So…they’re already finished, huh. That was fast! And Atlus USA is now submitting the game to the Australian Classification Board for certification. But wait.

On July 6, 2010, Atlus USA will be releasing enhanced Persona 3 remake Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable on the PSP. The game hasn’t been declared for Australia just yet, but perhaps the Classification Board has leaked that and not Persona 5’s platform status.

Kotaku is following up with both Atlus and the Classification Board to clarify the issue.

  • Oh, I noticed the PS3 entry before, but I guess the new PSP label just means the PSP port of Persona 1, that we apparently haven’t gotten yet even though anyone who was hanging out for it has most likely already imported it with their bonus soundtrack.

    • I would defs say this is the PSP remake of the original Persona game for the PSP listing. As for the PS3 listing, most likely a port of the US release of the original PS1 game (although I’ve heard plenty of people say the remake on PSP really fixes a lot of the bad localisation the PS1 release had)
