Return Fire! For PC? I played the demo for that endlessly, never bought the full version because I was a poor junior high school student.

Absolutely. That game was/is awesome. But the 2 levels of the demo were enough to keep a povo student happy for weeks.

Return Fire… real fun 2 player PC game, but I sort of remember it coming apart because keyboards wouldn’t register the 4 or 5 simultaneous keystrokes of 2 players trying to compete 🙂

Yep, real fun game. Single player was ok, but it was heaps of fun with 2. Always loved trying to get around in just the Jeep (with inflatable tires!)
The keyboard problems could be fixed with a Keyjammer program, which allowed you to work out what key combinations caused problems. I think one came with Star Control or Star Control 2.

Return Fire, and if I’m not mistaken, also the game Pauly Shore’s character played at work in the movie “In The Army Now”.

Fire Power was the original, released on Amiga, Atari ST and other platforms in the late ’80s. This here is Return Fire: the sequel, from the same guys, and released on 3DO, PC and PSone in the mid ’90s.

I do remember playing fire power, not return fire though.
One of the early split screen games that I really spent a lot of time on. I can remember the taunts of “STOP LOOKING AT WHERE I AM ON THE MAP!!” haha, the eternal struggle of the split screen peaking tom.

Return Fire, plagued by the screen watcher.
I played the demo version with my brother almost every day after school for a whole term, never ended up getting the full version, though.
The only saving grace was the fact you couldn’t easily tell where someone else was with the repetitive map. Can’t remember how many times i ended up in the water.
