Why Is A Twilight Film Star In Tron: Legacy?

That isn't a rhetorical question. Why?

"I'm a fan first and foremost," actor Michael Sheen told MTV. "That's a big part of why I wanted to do it, because I was such a fan of the first film. I was like 11 when it came out and it just blew me away. I never thought - if someone could go up to that 11-year-old boy in the cinema, when my uncle Russell took me to see the film, and said 'You're going to be in the sequel to this.' ...It would just be incredible."

Tron: Legacy is a sequel to the 1982 film, Tron, in which actor Jeff Bridges competes in a virtual game world.

"I still felt like that a little bit when I walked onto the set on the first day, I still felt like that little 11-year-old boy going 'Oh my god, I'm gonna get to be in this film!' And the sets and there was new technology invented for the costumes and for the filming techniques... it was just amazing to be a part of it."

Sheen is a well respected actor, playing Tony Blair (twice!) in both The Deal and The Queen. More recently, he was David Frost in Front/Nixon and the White Rabbit in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. He also was in Twilight: New Moon as Aro.

The perhaps should be: Why was Michael Sheen in Twilight?!

Don't rag on Twilight, be nice, Brian. Okay, I will! Hooray for Michael Sheen, hooray for Tron: Legacy, hooray for Twilight!!

    Lets not forget he was also Lucian in the Underworld movies.

    No, no, rag on Twilight, by all means. Twilight sucks and deserves to be hated on at every opportunity.

    Rip on that awful excuse for a "movie" and "book" all you want. I'm sure none of us would mind.

    First he was a werewolf now he's a vampire. Now a computer program. Now that's not get typecast.

    New Moon == $7mil paycheck.
    The mans got bills to pay people! You can judge him all you want for appearing in that film but I wouldn't turn down that sort of cash for an easy gig...

      Indeed, a more accurate question would be "Why would a decent actor like Sheen be in Twilight?"
