Sony: Nintendo, Let's Work Together!

Sony and Nintendo may be mortal enemies in many regards, but there's one area the two should be working together: 3D. At least, that's what Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida reckons.

"I have hope that they have a broader perspective with 3D," he told IGN. "When you listen to what they are saying about the effect of 3D perspective to the games, they are saying the same message we are, but they don't have to bash some small part of what the other company is doing."

"I think as an industry we should preach this new perspective, from a very large cinema screen to a small portable, because that helps advancing the games and the game industry," he adds. "We'd like to work together to promote 3D."

Sounds great in theory, but one of these companies stands to make money from 3D TV sets, PlayStations and movies, while the other does not. You can't blame them for not wanting to hold hands and weave friendship bracelets.

Sony: Nintendo Shouldn't Bash 3D Glasses [IGN]

Kinda sounds like they're trying to cash in on Nintendo's market share. A clever move, but highly transparent.

But remember what happened last time Sony and Nintendo teamed up to make a console? Yeah.

Yeah we got the Playstation out of it and it ushered in a new era of games and shovelware.

It's Nintendo's fault (& possibly biggest mistake?) for pulling out of the project. Sony not wanting to waste all their efforts from it, made it into their own console.

Had Nintendo kept with it though, history might not of been the same if it had stayed as an add-on hardware to the SNES... Sega's Mega CD add-on wasn't much good after all.

Sony really was a major underdog back then that somehow turned the tables against the big guns Nintendo & Sega.
