Censor Watch

While our censors aren't yet tasked with the responsibility of rating mobile games and apps, they've been kept plenty busy this week checking out the likes of Medal of Honor, World of WarCraft: Cataclysm and even SAW II.

None of which were banned, thankfully.

The most notable entry is for Doctor Who: Evacuation Earth, an as-yet-unannounced title based on the UK sci-fi series. Most likely it's the third episode of the Doctor Who adventures games from Sumo Digital and Broken Sword creator Charles Cecil. But the company who submitted the game for classification, Asylum, is not one I've heard of. Curious.

Also unannounced is Pinball FX 2. But, given who submitted it, it looks like we can expect some more pinball action on Xbox Live Arcade fairly soon.

Elsewhere, the presence of Ilomilo, a gorgeous-looking platformer destined for Xbox Live Arcade, suggests it may well be with us sooner than anticipated. I can't wait.

Shutter Island? Not only was I unaware of there even being a game based off that but how can such a game be PG?

It's probably about cameras and taking photos. :-)

They're finally releasing Lunar on the PSP? A bit too late from me as I got the US version on UMD.

Good to hear Fist of the North Star and Medal of Honor have been accepted.

And they seemed to rate WoW:Cataclysm just fine... how did this even get rated? I thought "games with online only content" were seen by the CB as a physical anomoly that made them to shriek and wail like howling banshees? [wait no, we become the howling banshees that's right]

I recently got addicted to cod4 again and i cant wait for moh. At least the multiplayer looks great!

Have you tried out Battlefield: Bad Company 2? Many people I know thought it was a better sequel to MW than MW2 was (at least in terms of Multi-player)

I didn't even know there was a Saw 2, but now that i do i'm stoked it passed censorship. First one was pretty average, but i enjoyed the puzzles, definately looking forward to the next :D

World of WarCraft: Cataclysm (Blizzard) M

looks like they have amended the ratings guidelines for MMOs after the loophole was found. ..

How close to a game's release can a game get classified? There hasn't been a release date for Cataclysm announced yet.

I think the ratings issue for WoW as an MMO, is the downloadable (patch) content. None of that stuff goes through the censors.

The issue with MMO's is according to the classification act, they aren't technically computer games (silly, I know, but that's what an outdated system of old fuddy-duddy's that refuse to change gets you!)

I believe they are now classifying MMO's based on the content on the actual disk, which is also kind of silly, as the rating becomes null and void the second the game gets a content patch.
