Despite uninformed calls for it to be banned, Modern Warfare 2 was released in Australia with an MA15+ rating. The Classification Board has this week passed judgement on Call of Duty: Black Ops. How did it fare?

The verdict: Black Ops is less violent than Modern Warfare 2. Indeed, the classification marking for the first-person shooter merely describes "Violence" and, in a nod to the vagaries of human interaction, that the "gaming experience may change online."

Elsewhere, Microsoft has been busy pushing many of its Kinect launch titles through classification and, in similar motion control news, Sony has managed to convince the Board that using a glowing dildo to chop your own finger off isn't a bannable offence.

Duke Nukem: Critical Mass is the first part of the PSP/DS Duke Nukem Trilogy. You may remember it being announced via this fantastic trailer two E3s ago.

The Forza 3 Ultimate Collection is surely a re-release of Forza 3 with all its DLC on disc. We're following up with Microsoft to confirm.

Also of note, Activision's 007 Bloodstone being classified would suggest it's on track for release this year - something of a surprise given how many other big shooters, including Activision's other Bond game Goldeneye, are also due to land between September and November.

And is that Super Earth Defense Force coming to Virtual Console? Yes, it looks like it it.

ooh... I cant wait for My First Trainz Set.

OMG... Duke Nukem: Critical Mass has finally been classified, i thought this was going the way of DNF.

And forever on this day, it will be remembered that ye olde David Wildgoose hath used thy phrase "a glowing dildo to chop your own finger off".

Can't wait for Forza 3 Ultimate Edition, I'm glad that I didn't get all that DLC in the firstplace :)

"Sony has managed to convince the Board that using a glowing dildo to chop your own finger off isn’t a bannable offence."

Highlight of my day. Quote of the month. Maybe of the year.

    Black Ops only got M?

Dear god. What a fantastic quote David. Can we send you a prize? :D

The Gamer Silly season is drawing near ...

Surprised by NFS: Hot Pursuit getting G, when Criterion's last effort got an M - from what I've seen, it's basically Burnout: Paradise in an NFS skin.

Isn't Tropico 3: Absolute Power (AFA) PG already available to Australians via steam? Do Steam games not have to be classified or something?

      Interesting, isn't it...

I remember reading on Kotaku i think, that Goldeneye got a PG. Wonder why its M now? Upped the violence I hope.

    Surprised by Black-Ops M.

    Best - quote - ever!

And black ops only rates an M?

    Whats going on!?

Only "M" for Black Ops? That's... kinda surprising, considering the limbs flying all over the place in the trailer.

COD Black Ops gets an M rating in Oz with the advice of 'Violence'.

Same game gets a Mature rating in the States with advice of 'Blood and Gore.'

My censor-senses are tingling... Pre-cut by the distributor? I've contacted the ACB / OFLC requesting the classification reports, so we shall see...
