Dead Rising 2 With Another Strong Showing In The Best-Screenshots Sweepstakes

Dead Rising 2, Capcom's September anti-zombie game is not supposed to be taken seriously. Here is more high-quality screenshot proof of that, as shown by Capcom for this week's big Gamescom show in Germany.

The screens here show co-op as well as day and night solo gameplay in this Las Vegas-inspired sequel.

    Hoooo-ly moley...

No screen shots have EVER made me want a game as much as these...

I think i may have moistened myself...

so much stupid... yet, so much awesome!

It's certainly looking like it will be the most entertaining zombie game ever.

Perhaps DR3 will turn it upto... 12?

That first image is just all kinds of awesome

This will be glorious fun in co-op- if only my friends had live...

Yes. I'm very dissapointed that there is no offline co-op. Most of my friends have PS3's so I don't pay for live, I instead get my MP gaming fix from Steam and battle.net.

Why is it so hard to get this one right? Scott pilgrim had offline MP, but no online MP. This has online MP, but no offline MP. Surely, if you code one of them in, it shouldn't be too hard to put in the other?

I'd suggest the performance hit you'd take trying to get DR2 working splitscreen would be too much. Or you'd have to cut back on the number of zombies so much it'd render the game pointless.

          System link? ;)

You do make a fair point though, I guess I forgot that dead rising is famous for having an inordinate amount of zombies on screen.

Speaking of online MP... I wonder if the PC version will support LAN play? I remember the PC version of resident evil 5 supported LAN.

The 'green' player in the top screenshots just scream out 'Mentok! The Mind-Taker!'

Especially with the big M on his shirt!

Who is he meant to be, by the way? Is he an actual element of the plot, or just a generic 'player 2' that no-one ever refers to

From what I've seen he's just generic Player 2 that doesn't appear anywhere in the plot. I think (hope?) they've done that to make it easier to drop-in and drop-out.

As for your other comment I'm sure Player 2 wasn't just a second Chuck clone (I'm having a hard time finding the co-op videos to check). Maybe they had him in a ridiculous costume or something so I didn't notice. If that is the case then hopefully that was just a place holder for the demo and the retail version will have a second generic dude for Player 2.

Can anyone tell me what's actually going on with Player 2's bike? He seems to have chopped up a giant stuffed rabbit and taped it on for no reason. I'm going to love this game even more if the improvised weaponry can be ridiculous without any function or reason.

It looks like the MP screenshots are not from the co-op mode. In co-op, you both play as Chuck Greene (a rather disappointing move if i must say so myself)

These look like they are from the 'terror is reality' mode:

    Terror is Reality
During the 2009 Tokyo Game Show, Capcom revealed that the multiplayer of Dead Rising 2 will take the form of a reality TV show called "Terror is Reality" in which players will act as contestants in a fictitious gameshow. Up to four players can participate in multiplayer, competing against each other for the most kills inside an arena full of undead. Players will be able to use weapons and vehicles including human-sized hamster balls and chainsaw-equipped motorcycles. They also will be able to prevent other players from scoring by using various forms of "dirty" tactics.[10] The multiplayer mode has been compared to the television show American Gladiators.
