From Game Boy To Virtual Boy, An Exhibit Of Gunpei Yokoi's Legacy

Gunpei Yokoi, who sadly killed in an auto accident in 1997, was a gaming wizard. A new exhibit in Tokyo's Harajuku pays its respects to Yokoi's legacy.

Yokoi created a wide array of toys for Nintendo. Later he would create Nintendo handheld devices like the Game & Watch and the Nintendo Game Boy. He also designed games like Metroid.

The exhibit runs until August 29. It has used Game Boys and Love Tester reproductions available for purchase.

    It brings a tear to my eye every time I hear Gunpei Yokoi's name.
    I really wish I could go see this exhibit. If only it would be open at the end of the year when I plan on visiting Japan again =(

    One of the most important lesser known names of the industry.

    I loved Game & Watch so fuckin much. ;_;
