Lich King Cleared For Chinese Release

The obstacles standing in the way of a Chinese release of World of Warcraft expansion Wrath of the Lich King have been overcome, with the title due for release at the end of the month.

The game had been held up due to its depiction of "questionable content" like skeletons. A localised version was submitted to Chinese authorities in September 2009, though, and Blizzard today say that Lich King will be out in mainland China on August 31.

We're not sure what exactly had to be cut or changed for the expansion to be cleared for release, but have contacted Blizzard and will update if we hear back.

    Just in time for Catacylsm!

Poor Chinese and their backward, oppressive government :(. Sometimes I complain about the nanny-state qualities of Australian politics, but it's really nothing compared to these guys.

    Questionable content like skulls?
Wonder what they're going to do with Marrowgar in ICC
