Only Imperial Stormtroopers Are So Precise...

LEGO enthusiast and master squirrel photographer Chris "Powerpig" McVeigh is either offering the Empire a much-needed tactical strategy learned from Taito's Space Invaders or proposing the next LEGO Star Wars game. We're not sure which. Seen on Flickr via Gizmodo.

Yeh.. now that you mention it.. that really bothers me..

Obi Wan says in relation to the Jawa Holocaust "Only imperial stormtroopers are so precise"...

...OBI WAN!!! THEY NEVER HIT ANYONE EVEN THOUGH THEY CLEARLY OUTNUMBER ALL THE GOOD GUYS!!!

Best they did is one shot R2 (who in was completely still and a large target anyway) and one shot leia in the arm.... before having his ass kicked by furry little ewoks armed with small rocks and spears!!

...George has to answer for messing up my head as a child...

You'll realise that the potency of Stormtroopers varies significantly on who they're shooting. In the very opening of Star Wars, they ruthlessly gun down an entire corridor of rebels with little trouble. In the prequels, their spiritual predecessors, Clone Troopers gun down many minor Jedi characters and Droids with acceptable efficiency.

But throw them against Luke, Han, Leia or Obi-Wan and suddenly they'll get stage fright and can't hit the broad side of a barn because these 'face characters' now have character shields. The stormtroopers are REQUIRED to miss otherwise Star Wars will be a very shoot movie indeed.

So yes, while Stormtroopers are garbage 90% of the time, their precision is largely due to story-telling requirements. Red Shirts on the other hand....
