PlayStation Plus Subscribers Get PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap 1st

Hardcore PixelJunk brand fans may have a convincing reason to become PlayStation Plus members as of now. North American PlayStation 3 owners who subscribe to Sony's premium service will be the first to get access to PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap starting Tuesday.

That's not a sequel, but an upgrade to the original PixelJunk Racers.

Developer Q-Games has updated the racing game (that's not a racing game!) with Trophies, downloadable ghost battles, difficulty tweaks and more, but only PlayStation Plus subscribers will have access to play it for now. The free patch will go live for Plus members on Tuesday, August 10. The rest of us will get it two weeks later.

Q-Games' founder Dylan Cuthbert explains all the changes at the official PlayStation.blog, if you're interested. While the rest of us wait for our free update, let us know where you stand on the PlayStation Plus situation. Are you a subscriber? Do you plan on becoming one?

Okay, delaying updates to pimp PS+ is the same inspired Gold vs Silver insanity MS is up to. Shame Sony. Shame.

      Better late than never

I'm a subscriber, so far so good.

After free LBP (I already owned it but digital copy is so much more convenient) the best feature is the automatic download.

Love not having to think about patches/updates/demos etc. I turn on the console and it is there.

Not sure that's worth $50 per year for others though.

Looking forward to more free games too.
