Uncharted Movie Back At Square One After Director Talks Break Down

Hothead director David O. Russell will not be directing any Uncharted movie, the Los Angeles Times reports, and the unsuccessful negotiations to bring him to the project have pretty much shot any chance the movie has of releasing in 2011.

Russell's proclivity for some grade-A blowups in the past added the potential for comedy, if not stability, to this project. That didn't scare off Sony or the producers handling "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune". But unable to come to an agreement, both sides have walked away. I hope it was at least civil.

That's apparently sent the whole thing back to the drawing board, reports the Times. Sony may look for stars to come aboard before finding another director. The Times says that finishes off any outside hope of this film coming to the screen, even on a fast track, in 2011.

Uncharted, while it had flaws, was a great game.
Uncharted 2 was a masterpiece that is better than most action movies released these days.
I just want me Uncharted 3, and hope this movie project just gets canned.

As long as the movie has Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake it will be epic. I don't really care who directs it, if they don't have Fillion as Drake it wont be as epic as it should be.

If Nathan stars then Joss HAS to direct.

And there was a collective sigh of relief from the gaming community as another popular franchise was spared being crapped on by Hollywood for another 12 months.

mmm probably but given the nature of uncharted 1 it should translate into a movie pretty easily

After all it was basically an Indiana Jones movie with new, exciting characters.
