What's Next For Left 4 Dead 2?

Valve will be injecting more life into Left 4 Dead 2 in the form of featured community maps. The developer says it plans to begin hosting bi-weekly community campaigns on its own servers, starting with "Two Evil Eyes".

Valve's Chet Faliszek writes on the official Left 4 Dead blog that the company will provide official dedicated server support for select fan-made maps, making it easier for players of the PC version to get their hands on some fresher content. And while that's great, what about the company's plans for giving Left 4 Dead players new content developed by Valve itself?

We'll have to wait until next week, when Valve will address the late downloadable content for the original Left 4 Dead, future plans for Left 4 Dead 2 and the still-missing Mac version of the zombie shooter.

Next Friday August 20, we'll know, thanks to GameTrailers TV.

Yeah, they promised us a companion DLC for the first L4D, that tells the story of 'the passing' from the original survivors eyes. They said it would come out 'shortly after' the passing, but I guess VALVE TIME STRIKES AGAIN!

too bad the custom campaign they are promoting has broken textures and wierd clipping all over the place

It's got some interesting ideas that I hadn't seen done in other custom campaigns, however when I tried it with bots on advanced I found it to be extremely easy. There's way too many supplies in it on the main path (i.e. you don't even need to go hunting for them). Maybe expert mode is better balanced or it's been updated since I played it. I don't recall the textures or clipping being really bad, but it has been a while. I'd say it's worth a look if you've the bandwidth to download it.

For L4D1 - Try I Hate Mountains... Awesome map with great attention to detail. Good difficulty balance too.

For L4D2 (I think or maybe it was L4D1 again) try Night Terrors. BRILLIANT map stringing together 5 nightmares based on movies and stories that you have to battle through! The Lord of the Rings scene is fantastic.

Dam it! I was hoping for a L4D3 release and announcement!

Dam It! Is also an excellent L4D1 map :) Very long though if you happen to get wiped out.

still keen for non-censored and larger player base before i enjoy this game... such a pitty, l4d1 was awsome

Getting it non-censored is a simple matter of purchasing it overseas, and the player base sure isn't getting any larger this far into the release cycle.

who gives a damn about the Mac version.. I got my L4D and love it.
Just wish L4D2 was not 'crippled' here in Oz.. though I still love playing it..

*I* would quite like a mac version. Sure I may not use it most of the time but the bonus of it being there when I want it is something I'd look for. Agree that pushing more content is more important though.
