Final Fantasy Fighting Game Gets A Sequel Struck By Lightning

Square Enix has revealed the follow-up to its portable Final Fantasy fighting game, Dissidia: Final Fantasy, in the latest issue of Japanese magazine Weekly Shonen Jump.

That game is the somewhat clumsily titled Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy, a PlayStation Portable release planned for release sometime in 2011, the magazine reveals. The logo looks like Dissidia [duodecim]012: Final Fantasy, lending it just a tiny touch of awkwardness.

But fans of the original PSP game will likely be excited by the roster additions in Dissidia Duodecim. Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII and Kain from Final Fantasy IV appear to be confirmed, going by the new issue of Jump.

Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy may be making an appearance at next week's Tokyo Game Show, so we'll see if the sequel to 2008's Dissidia: Final Fantasy is still like doing your taxes on the moon.

Hell yeah Lightning, the only character that was actually interesting in FFXIII.

Hell yeah Kaine, that dude gives me a full-on robot chubby!

still no word of FF12 characters?
    this is upsetting.

Theres a judge in the last one...playable!

...sorry but...this is great news for me.
I've spent so much time on the first Dissidia and...I cannot wait for this.

Hey... I really, really enjoyed Dissidia. So news of a sequel gets two thumbs up from me!

Ohhh yeah, totally buying this. PSP/PS3 please~!

    Awesome! :D
Lightning was my favourite from XIII and Kain is pretty awesome too! I wonder if they'll start brining in some characters from spin-off titles, like that crystal bearer guy from the new Crystal Chronicles.
I know it probably won't happen, but.... Kingdom Hearts characters please? :)
